Who We Are

Inspired by their travels with three young children, Cameron and Sheylynn envisioned a creative indoor play space closer to home—one that would bring imaginative, hands-on play to Hays and surrounding rural communities while introducing children to real-world careers through play, drawing on their own backgrounds in the trades, construction, farming, and nursing. That vision aligns seamlessly with Braiden and Mindy Werth, who are deeply committed to creating opportunities for families to connect and grow in the Hays area; after becoming a mother, Mindy was inspired to found Play Hays as a place that sparks imagination and strengthens community, blending her passion for education as an instructor at Fort Hays State University with her dedication to local families, while Braiden, owner of Werth Eye Group, brings business leadership and a strong community focus to support the mission. Rounding out the founding team are James and Kaitlin Robben, whose strong ties to western Kansas and shared desire to better the place they live and work shaped Play Hays into a true hub for connection and joy; as a mother and pediatric APRN, Kaitlin values enriching environments that support children’s social and motor development, while James’s deep understanding of community needs helped define Play Hays as a space where families can gather, grow, and thrive. Together, Cameron, Sheylynn, Braiden, Mindy, James, and Kaitlin share a unified commitment to Play Hays—creating meaningful play experiences today while leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.
